Gameplay is split between real-time tactical battles and a turn-based strategic campaign. The player initially assumes control of one of three Roman families other non-Roman factions can be unlocked later. The game's main campaign takes place from 270 BC to 14 AD showcasing the rise and final centuries of the Republican period and the early decades of the imperial period of Ancient Rome. The game is the third title in The Creative Assembly's Total War series. The macOS version was released on Februby Feral Interactive, who also released the iPad version on November 10, 2016, the iPhone version on August 23, 2018, and the Android version on December 19, 2018. The game was released for Microsoft Windows in 2004. Understanding this optimisation is all about getting to grips with the game’s different economic and military resources.Rome: Total War is a strategy video game developed by The Creative Assembly and originally published by Activision its publishing rights have since passed to Sega. So optimisation of the limited number of buildings that can be constructed in each settlement and province is a case of maximising the advantages and compensating for the disadvantages. Not so in Rome II: the bigger the building the worse the penalties. There might be a choice between castle or city, but that was it. Earlier games required you simply to grow your population and build the best buildings as and when you could afford them. Why a Province management guide? Rome II differs from previous Total War titles in that there is much more balancing of advantages and disadvantages of different building lines. I am far from an expert on campaign strategy, but nevertheless thought my input might be helpful to some players. The guide relates mostly to the Rome factions.

This guide was written based on Patch 8 and focuses a bit more on the mid to late game rather than early game building planning. While there are already strategies available on this topic, I wanted to put forward some comments about what to build in provinces from my own limited experience and a brief analysis of the stats. “The source of infinite money is total war.” Sega 2013 AD “The sinews of war are infinite money.” Cicero 43 BC
